PHPB wins Java St Andrews Society Open Quintet competition.

After 20 years of competiting in the international quintet pipe band championships at the Java St Andrews Society Highland Games, Perth Highland brought home the gold.

The Perth Highland team this year comprised Pipe Sergeant Nick Lind, Drum Sergeant David Johnston, Pipe Corporal Stuart McCormack, Bass Drummer Louis Mallet and Piper Chris Barr.

Drum Sergeant David Johnston also won the solo Open Snare Drumming.

Stuart McCormack won the solo Open Piping. It was Stewey's first trip to Jakarta and he seemed to make friends well (see pic).

And Louis came 2nd in the Open Bass Drumming.

Sadly, no gold medal in the Tug o War this year for Perth Highland as mighty Phil Richardson was not in the touring party.
