Our motto is “play good music and have a laugh” which means it’s as much about the banter as perfecting our skills on the chanter and drum pads.

If you're interested, come along to our practice, 7pm Mondays at the Hockey Club, Perry Lakes, off Oceanic Drive, Floreat. For more info, call Gary on 0422 444 894 or email secretary@perthhighland.com

We’re always on the lookout for players.

10 REASONS TO JOIN PHPB

01 | Great gigs

We perform throughout the year at performances such as country shows, Ronald McDonald Ball, the Christmas Pageant, Jakarta St Andrews Ball (in Indonesia), Perth community events, weddings and concerts (we've even performed with ochestras at the Perth Concert Hall).

02 | Overseas trips

We travel to Jakarta Indonesia regularly to play for the Java St Andrews Society events. We have also traveled to Singapore and New Zealand for band contests.

03 | Top of Grade 4A

To maintain a high musical standard, we compete regularly. We have dominated our grade for more over 2 decades, and have a goal to move up into Grade 3. Competing is optional for players, and we welcome anyone who just wants to play with us without committing to contests.

04 | Strong leadership

We are very lucky to have Ali MacKerron as our Pipe Major. Ali is from Scotland, where he competed at Grade 2 level. Ali also has a ceilidh band that mixes traditional Scottish folk music with contemporary hits. Our Pipe Sergeant and Pipe Corporal, Callum Griffiths and Charles Barblett, are very accomplished pipers and composers who both learnt at Scotch College, both studied music at the University of WA, and played as guest pipers with the WA Police Pipe Band. Our Drum Sergeant is David Johnston, who has three decades of experience and solo medals to his name.

05 | Great tunes

We keep our repertoire fresh, with a mix of contemporary and traditional tunes. We are very lucky to have some great composers in the band, who write original music and create new arrangements of trad tunes.

06 | Central practice venue

We practice every Monday night at the Hockey Club at Perry Lakes, off Oceanic Drive, Floreat. It is just a few minutes from the Perth central business district, with easy access to the Freeway and West Coast Highway.

07 | No membership fees

It is believed that Perth Highland is the only registered PBWA band that does not charge its members an annual fee. We are funded by our music performances throughout the year, and have never charged membership fees.

08 | Uniforms and equipment supplied

We provide our members with uniforms and supply drums, bagpipe chanters, practice chanters, pipe bags and bag covers, and reeds.

09 | All ages

We provide our members with uniforms and supply drums, bagpipe chanters, practice chanters, pipe bags and bag covers, and reeds.

10 | We have a laugh

Having fun is deep in the culture of Perth Highland. To see how much we enjoy performing all over Western Australia and further afield, check out our Facebook Page.
